Is Lone Star Chevrolet the Best Chevy Dealer in Texas?

In my travels as a professional automotive marketing and social media consultant, I get the privilege of working with some of the best car dealers in America... Every once in awhile, I visit a dealership whose management, staff and facilities stand out amongst these best of the best in automotive retail.

Over the past 5 years I have met, communicated with and visited Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston, Texas several times... I have had the opportunity in that time period to be a Lone Star Chevrolet competitor, customer, supplier, consultant and observer!  I also have a very high degree of loyalty to my former employer and local favorite, Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, Arizona, but I find myself coming to the conclusion that of the over 100 Chevy Dealerships in the USA and Canada that I have worked with, and over 25 of them being in Texas, the team of automotive professionals at Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston,Texas are by far, the best Chevrolet dealership in the state of Texas for a Chevy buyer or owner to do business with. In fact, I believe that despite my intense loyalty to my local Chevy homies here in Phoenix, that Lone Star Chevrolet is among the top 5 best Chevy dealers in America to do business with!

Why would I nominate Lone Star Chevrolet for the honor of being rated the best Chevy dealer in Texas? Because I get to see many Dealerships in a manner that the average consumer or even GM will never get to see... As an Automotive Marketing Consultant and "Gun for Hire" Ralph Paglia is privy to the operating policies, communication strategies and "spin mastering" that car dealers will reveal to nobody else outside of their top management team... In the case of Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston, these people are unlike any other dealer I have worked with!

1. Lone Star sells more Chevy cars and trucks to repeat customers than any other Chevy dealer in Texas.

2. Lone Star has a female General Manager who runs a tight ship, commands respect and loyalty from her employees and is fiercely and genuinely focused on their Chevy customers and taking care of them to a degree which I have never seen a male GM come close to (Caroline).

3. Unlike so many car dealers, when Lone Star Chevrolet discovers their customers are using a newer technology, Lone Star adopts that same technology and provides their employees with the tools to be where their Chevy customers are. Whether it is the convenience of Chevrolet service coupons presented by customers on their cell phones or simply using text messages to communicate with specific employees customers are working with, and even rejecting official GM mandated technology suppliers if Lone Star Chevrolet finds something more convenient for their customers, this dealership selects the technology tools that provide better service to Chevy owners than what they are "supposed" to use.

4. The deals on new and used Chevy cars and trucks... We have all heard the claims made by so many dealers that their volume and purchasing power allows them to offer better selection and prices. In most cases these claims are nothing more than advertising hype. Then you have Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston... When I studied their financial records and official GM reports, I found that they actually do sell new and GM Certified Used Vehicles for LOWER AVERAGE TRANSACTION PRICES on a model by model basis than any other Chevy dealer in Texas. But, when I wanted to use that information in their marketing campaigns, they declined my recommendation! For what reason? They did not want to "devalue" their level of customer service by revealing that they actually do sell Chevrolet cars and trucks for lower prices than other Texas Chevrolet dealers. Oh well, so now you know... Lone Star Chevrolet sells for less and provides better customer service.

5. Lone Star Chevrolet is owned by Sonic Automotive, Inc. which is controlled by C. Bruton Smith and his family, including Scott Smith who have donated more money and hours of volunteer services than any other automotive dealer group in America. The Smith Family is legendary for their financial support of local non-profit charities and civic organizations. This is reflected in the civic responsibility shown by Lone Star Chevrolet in the form of financial support for Houston non profit civic organizations, and more significantly by the thousands of volunteer service hours contributed by Lone Star Chevrolet employees. Again, you won't see Lone Star Chevrolet brag about this in their advertising campaigns, but I am a first hand witness to this.
